Copyright is a form of protection defined in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works.
Types of Copyright Works:

1. Literary Works: These are works other than audiovisual works, expressed in words and numbers which are intended to be read. Examples are books, periodicals, manuscripts.
2. Performing Arts: Works that are intended to be performed for an audience, either directly or using a device. Examples are music, play, dance, acts.
3. Visual Arts: This includes pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works, as well as architectural works. Examples of visual arts works include paintings, sculptures, photographs.
4. Sound recording: Includes sounds recorded in mp3, CD, LP of sounds by an artist or performer, producer or sound engineer in a performance.
5. Motion Pictures: These are works that are shown with a projector, digital display, or other such device. Examples are movies, television shows, video games, animations, and similar types of works.

The Copyright symbol © consists of a letter “c” in a circle, followed by the name of the owner of the copyright and the year the work was first published. It is not require that any symbols be used to indicate that works are subject to copyright. If you do distribute your work to the public or internationally, you should use the copyright symbol to let others know that the work is protected.

Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. Copyright protects original works of authorship, while a patent protects inventions or discoveries. Ideas and discoveries are not protected by the copyright law, although the way in which they are expressed may be. A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.

Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, text books, directories, catalogues, advertising copy, Computer programs and databases, Articles, Periodicals.

Artworks, Illustrations, Jewelry, Fabric, Architectures, sculptural works, photographs, prints & art reproductions, maps, technical drawings.

Works that result from the fixation of a series of musical, spoken, or other sounds but not including sounds accompanying a motion picture or other audiovisual work. Common examples of sound recordings include an audio recording of:

• A person singing a song or playing a musical instrument.
• A person reading a book or delivering a lecture.
• A group of persons hosting a podcast or performing a radio play.
• A person speaking, a dog barking, a bird singing, wind chimes ringing, or other sounds from the natural world (assuming the recording contains a sufficient amount of production authorship).

Musical work such as a song, Lyrics, Sound Recordings, Scripts, Stage Plays, Choreographic work, Pantomime.

Feature films, documentary films, television shoes, videos, Animations.

Author is the individual who created the copyright material. When permission to use copyrighted material is needed, it is only the author or creator who can permit usage of his/her works.
